BEEM
Trashcan

BEEM uses the ubiquitous grocery bags, which are held by the two smiling side openings in an attempt to utilize what
otherwise is considered waste. The trashcan’s rope is the structural element that connects the plywood pieces, but also
a flexible connection that allows the object to fold flat for shipping or storage. BEEM is part of a bigger project on objects
made from biodegradable and compostable materials, which includes the use of common materials in innovative ways,
such as rope, wood and fabric, but also the development of new materials for specific uses.

This project was part of the show Indispensable Trashcan, installed at Galapagos in New York in May 2004. Below you
can see an installation shot of the exhibit.
